Both options meet the UA Scholarship Program requirement (Students with Unique Abilities). Neither individual option meets the PEP Scholarship Program requirement (Personalized Education Program). See the 2025 Testing Update for more information.
PORTFOLIO REVIEW
If your child is in Kindergarten, does not test well, or you need help with your curriculum you can choose to have a Portfolio Review. The cost is $50 and usually takes at least one hour per child. This is an acceptable alternative for all ages/grades in place of submitting standardized test results to the school system. You will need to provide your curriculum texts, reports, assignments, tests and examples of creativity. Your child will be interviewed and be given an opportunity to show that their progress is commensurate with their ability in each subject.
PIAT-R (Peabody Individual Achievement Test-R)
If your child has trouble with written standardized testing or is otherwise challenged academically then you may choose this test. The cost is $75 and usually takes at least two hours per child. The test is oral and not timed. They are asked multiple choice questions and given as much time as needed to complete each answer. Sections of this test include Reading, Computation, Spelling, and General Information.
THERE IS NO LANGUAGE SECTION.
